3 Essential Thrillers with Blind Characters

Celebrating the airing of the French psychological thriller, Blind Fear, about a blind kid who still believes his mom is alive after her demise, we have selected three essential thrillers with blind characters. Make sure to see them!

Julia’s Eyes

This horror thriller became one of the most promising Spanish films of 2010. Starring award-winning actors Belén Rueda and Lluís Homar, Julia’s Eyes follows the story of a woman who is slowly losing her sight whilst trying to investigate the mysterious death of her twin sister.

For her role on the movie, Belén Rueda earned a nomination to the Goya Awards for Best Lead Actress.

Don’t Breathe

Starring Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto, and Stephen Lang, Don’t Breathe will leave you breathless. This horror-thriller follows the story of a trio of thieves break into the house of a blind man who isn't as helpless as he seems when they hope to walk away with a massive fortune.

Don't Breathe grossed $89.2 million in North America and $67.9 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $157.1 million, against a production budget of $9.9 million

Blink

Going a little back in time against the two previous films, we set our feet in the 1990s with this movie. In this neo-noir thriller, Emma Brody is a young musician who has been blind for 20 years. New surgery techniques restore her vision but initially cause "vision flashes" that leave her uncertain about what she sees. One night, she is awakened by a noise in the apartment above. Peeking out her door, she "sees" a figure descending the stairs. She contacts the police, worried that her neighbor has been murdered, but is unsure whether it was just her new vision deceiving her. The killer then begins to stalk Emma.

Director Michael Apted was nominated for a Crystal Globe award for the film at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and screenwriter Dana Stevens was nominated for Best Motion Picture at the Edgar Allan Poe Awards.
