Midnight in Paris

One of the most famous modern productions of the marvelous Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris is a fantasy comedy starring Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody, Carla Bruni, Marion Cotillard, and Michael Sheen. The movie follows Gil Pender, a screenwriter, forced to confront the shortcomings of his relationship with his materialistic fiancée and their divergent goals, which become increasingly exaggerated as he travels back in time each night at midnight.

Midnight in Paris won both the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay; and was nominated for three other Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director and Best Art Direction.

Paris, I Love You

One of the most remembered anthology films of recent times, Paris, je t’aime is a production that combines drama, romance and comedy. The movie includes 18 short films with 22 directors including famous names like Gurinder Chadha, Joel and Ethan Coen, Gérard Depardieu, Wes Craven, Alfonso Cuarón, Walter Salles, among others. Its cast is also beset with prominent figures like Bob Hoskins, Elijah Wood, Olga Kurylenko, Natalie Portman, and Juliette Binoche. Paris, je t’aime is set in different Parisian admonishments and reflect modern life in the city.

Amelie

Starring Audrey Tautou and Mathieu Kassovitz, Amelie is a comedy about an innocent and naive girl in Paris who has her own sense of justice. She decides to help those around her and, along the way, she discovers love.

Directed by the famous Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Amelie received critical acclaim and was a major box office success. The comedy won Best Film at the European Film Awards, as well as four César Awards in 2002 (including Best Film and Best Director), two BAFTA Awards (including Best Original Screenplay), and was nominated for five Academy Awards. Taking in over $33 million in a limited theatrical release, it is to date the highest-grossing French-language film released in the United States and one of the biggest international successes for a French movie.
