3 Feel-Good Parenthood Movies

Celebrating the airing of Parental Guidance, a hilarious Italian dramatic comedy about parenthood, forgiveness and hopes, we have selected three feel-good movies about being a parent. These productions prove that once you become one, you would never turn back on your children!

Mrs Doubtfire

Starring the legendary comedian and actor Robin Williams, Mrs Doubtfire is a comedy-drama film based on the novel Alias Madame Doubtfire by Anne Fine. In this poignant production, an actor disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend time with his children held in custody by his former wife after their bitter divorce.

Mrs Doubtfire won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Robin Williams was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Parenthood

Also a comedy, Parenthood is a 1989 production starring the legendary Steve Martin in the lead role. This feel-good film follows four siblings and their families over the course of a summer. The Buckmans are a midwestern family all dealing with their lives: estranged relatives, raising children, pressures of the job, and learning to be a good parent and spouse.

Parenthood was nominated for two Academy Awards: Dianne Wiest for Best Supporting Actress and Randy Newman for Best Song for "I Love to See You Smile". It was also nominated by the American Film Institute for their 100 Years...100 Laughs series.

Wonder

Based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name by R. J. Palacio, this movie tells the awe-inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters the fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. The movie stars Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as the boy’s parents, who despite their child’s fears, they always encourage him to have a normal social life despite his aspect.
