3 Surprising Cases of People with Double Lives

3 Surprising Cases of People with Double Lives

Celebrating the broadcast of the French drama Her Secret Life, about a man who discovers the double life of his wife after a fatal car crash, we have selected three intriguing but famous stories of people who led double lives for some time.

Ted Haggard
Haggard was the head pastor of a church in Colorado Springs and was also one of the leaders of the National Association of Evangelicals. He was a happily married man with children and in 2005 was listed by Time Magazine as one of the most influential people of the year. However, Haggard was hiding a deep secret. He had relationships with other men and even a young boy had claimed sexual contact with Ted. Haggard dismissed the first claim as a 'massage gone bad'. The second claim and other accusations that followed he remained tight-lipped. The church put out a statement saying he was no longer welcome to be a part of the ministry.

Frank Abagnale Jr.
One man with a life so rich that could make a thousand movies, Frank Abagnale Jr. is best known as the man behind the story of the blockbuster Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Frank lived a life of luxury while pretending to be a Pan Am pilot after he learned everything he needed to impersonate one. After being a pilot for some time he decided to try out being a medical doctor. He went to Georgia where he worked as a doctor in a small town hospital. Eventually, his crimes caught up with him and he spent time in prison before the U.S. hired him to work for the FBI. He worked for the FBI for over 30 years educating them on fraud and how to prevent scams.

Senator Leland Yee
A name not so famous but interesting. Senator Leland Lee was an outstanding citizen of California and President of the San Francisco School Board. He led quite a public life dedicated to society until it all started crumbling down when his true self was revealed. Yee was a person of interest to the FBI and it was discovered that he had been purchasing missiles and guns from a terrorist organization in the Middle East and re-selling them for a huge profit. He was charged and found guilty of crimes including racketeering, money laundering, and bribery.
