Clara Sheller - France
Director: Renaud Bertrand
Eurochannel is proud to present the second season of one of the most successful series ever aired on the channel, Clara Sheller (2009). In France, the first two episodes of the new season were enthusiastically watched by four million viewers.
The new season comes with a new cast led by French actress Zoé Félix replacing Mélanie Doutey as the beautiful journalist Clara Sheller. The change didn’t mislead fans; instead it embraced and followed the spirit and rhythm of the first season.
Launched in 2005, the series was praised by French critics who defined it as a combination of Sex and the City, Ally McBeal, Will & Grace, and Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001). The series follows the day to day life of Clara Sheller (Zoé Félix), a journalist living in Paris. She shares her feelings, including her dream to find her soul mate, with her best friend and coworker JP (Patrick Mille). Sometimes they find themselves attracted to the same people.
In the first season, after becoming pregnant by the editor of the newspaper where she works, she asks JP to take over paternity of the child. Clara becomes closer to Gilles François Vincentelli), her neighbor whom she and JP are both attracted to. Learning of JP's disgust regarding her meetings with Gilles, Clara decides to move away from her neighbor but they meet again, without JP knowing. Gilles declares his love for Clara and surprises her with an invitation to move with him to Japan.
The cast also features Yan Duffas (Pascal), Thomas Jouannet (Antonie), Cécile Cassel (Victoire) and Judith El Zein (Jeanne).
Clara is celebrating her 33rd birthday and asks herself if she has reached maturity. While they have breakfast in bed, her relationship with Gilles seems perfect. JP is going out with Marc, an attentive young man who wishes to live with him. Meanwhile, while a an audit is occurring at the newspaper where she works, Clara becomes involved with Julien, the new receptionist and Victoire, her new co-worker who is much younger and more serious than she is. Apart from the apparent stability in her relationships, her life is full of small lies. She doesn’t realize that some of them can be very harmful.
After a public argument with Iris, Clara and Gilles give themselves some time apart (this time it went too far). JP also goes through a difficult time: Denis, his new neighbor, discovers that he and Pascal had a relationship. The three of them have a violent argument and JP goes to heal his wounds at Gilles house. After the tense period ends, Clara convinces Gilles to spend a weekend with her in the countryside. She takes the opportunity to tell him that she thought about it and would like to have a son but no one changes overnight. After Gilles sees her buying contraceptives at the pharmacy, he discovers the lie and returns immediately to Paris. That same night, he is comforted by JP. The mutual affection brings back exciting memories and the two spend the night together.
