Presentation:

Transport your senses to the depths of space with the music of Daft Punk. This famous duo of eccentric musicians has dazzled fans all across the galaxy, and now they are landing on Eurochannel for a one-of-a-kind musical special.

Daft Punk pioneered the genre of computer-generated techno. Since their beginning, they have been on the bleeding edge of both music and technology, influencing countless other works of music, art and cinema. Surprisingly, they weren’t always part of the electronica scene: they first performed in a pop band during their school years. However, it wasn’t long before their unique imaginations pulled them away from pop music and towards the experimental electric beats that have made them internationally famous.

Their music is impossible to classify, sampling beats from techno, house, acid house, and electronica and combining them into a synthesis of creative energy. This creativity has earned them acclaim from Scifi fans and music nuts worldwide, along with numerous critical honors such as a Grammy for Best Dance Recording and Best Electronic Dance Album.

In 2010 this outrageous duo composed the soundtrack for the hit film Tron: Legacy, to the delight of geeks everywhere. Discover all their quirky songs in this Euromusic special.

Biography:

Daft Punk is the result of the innovative minds of an electronic music duo composed by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter in Paris. After their former band separated, the duo – eager for creating new music - committed them to form a new group experimenting with synthesizers and drums. Soon after the band signed for Virgin Records and recorded Homework in 1997, their first studio album which included the worldwide famous “Around the World”.

In 2001 the band released Discovery, reaching the #2 in the UK music charts and becoming a mainstream in the club scene with hits such as “One More Time” and “Digital Love”. Four years later Daft Punk released Human After All. After a flirt with the filming industry in 2006 when the band premiered their first directed film, Daft Punk's Electroma at the Cannes Film Festival, they returned to the industry to record the score for Tron: Legacy in 2010.
