Five Famous singers out of the closet

Five Famous singers out of the closet

Being famous is not always a pleasure cruise. Worldwide super starts have to deal with legions of rabid fans, and the constant pressure of the press snooping around in their daily lives. Sometimes it’s just easier to air out all of their secrets; at least that way the tabloids won’t have anything else to talk about. These five artists decided break out of the closet and bravely show their true natures to the entire world.

Elton John

Elton John

Declared Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Sir Elton John came out as a bisexual in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine in 1976.

Then in 1988 he declared he was completely homosexual. In 1993 Elton John began a relationship with David Hurnish, whom he is still with to this day. In 2009 he declared his intention to adopt a child from an AIDS orphanage but was tragically denied due to his age and marital status.

Tiziano Ferro

The Italian singer was known as a classic ‘Latin Lover.’ Then, on October 5th 2010, Tiziano broke the hearts of women everywhere by coming out in an interview with the Italian version of Vanity Fair.

The singer decided after extensive therapy that the only way that he could be true to himself was to let the world know about his sexuality. In a memorable closing he declared: “I want to fall in love with a man.”

Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin

In one of the most controversial come outs in years, Ricky Martin used the social network Twitter in March 2010 to declare “today I accept my homosexuality as a gift of life.”

Later that month he uploaded a statement on his website as a personal letter to all his fans. Martin is father of two kids who were born via in-vitro insemination with a surrogate mother.

George Michael

Often an easy target for British tabloids, George Michael decided to come out after his mother passed in 1998. He told the press that he had denied his true orientation for so long because he didn’t want to hurt his mother’s feelings.

He then began a whirlwind romance with Brazilian entrepreneur Anselmo Fellepa, to whom he dedicated the single “Jesus to a Child” and has, of late, been involved with a businessman named Kenny Goss.

Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert

He became the superstar of the 8th season of American Idol in which he teamed up with the legendary rock band Queen. After many speculations about his sexuality, he decided to put an end to the gossip by coming out in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

Laughing, he said that it probably wasn’t much of a surprise to anyone. Lambert is resolved to keep his personal life separate from his professional. In early 2012 Adam Lambert will be touring alongside Queen in a tour across the UK and Europe.
