Frozen Lake (Der Tote am Teich, 2015)
Director: Nikolaus Leytner
In a small, snow-covered village in Austria, retired police officer Sepp finds a dead man lying on the frozen lake, slain - previously poisoned, and decides to start his own investigation. Eurochannel premiers Frozen Lake.
After his burnout, Sepp Ahorner withdrew from police life and now lives with his mother. During one of his morning walks, he discovers a badly battered corpse on a frozen lake. Since the villagers only responded with rejection and silence to the investigators Grete and Lisa, who had arrived from Linz, Sepp felt compelled to investigate on his own despite his retirement.
Sepp is reclusive, and is considered "unique" in the village, since he is only interested in wild animals after the tragic death of his wife and daughter. The Linz detective Grete and her assistant Lisa have little to do with his strange methods. The case seems obvious as a crime of passion, until it turns out that the victim was not only killed but also poisoned.
The more the truth comes to light, the more Grete develops her own concept of justice and law. Sepp, on the other hand, has long overlooked the fact that his investigation is bringing misfortune to all his relatives.
