The first part of the film is built around the theme of the actress's roots and the fears she had to overcome. The second part, an "approach of the shadow and light," traces the international career of the actress. The third part refers poetically to her work with director Rainer Werner Fassbinder,and includes memorable excerpts of films such as The Marriage of Maria Braun andThe Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant, among others.
