 Televizija Student - Eurochannel

The Faculty of Political Science, unique in Croatia.

The Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb was founded as an institution of higher education within the University of Zagreb in 1962. The faculty is the oldest political science educational and research institution in this part of Europe. The Faculty started with the Journalism program in the early 70ies and nowadays it is a home institution for two studies – Study of political science and Study of Journalism. Because of its journalism program, the faculty has a long tradition of student media quite unique in the region. It has a radio station, television and student newspapers. Radio Student is the oldest student media and it has been broadcasting without interruption since 1996.

Televizija Student, an original idea

Televizija Student (Student TV, is an original idea that emerged in 2002 among a small group of students in the basement of the Faculty.  They imagined a platform where students could express their creativity and opinions. Since then Telvizija Students has developed and worked its way through. In November 6th 2012, it broadcasted its first minutes, some of its stories were broadcasted nationally on the third program of Croatian Radio Television (HRT4) and even internationally now with interviews from Televizija Students being broadcasted on Eurochannel.

How do they do?

Televizija Student is completely run by students and their mentors. Igor Mirković, its chief editor, is a famous television journalist, war and political reporter, movie maker and lecturer of the Faculty of Political Science. TenaPerišin, its project manager, studied at Harvard University Film Studies and Syracuse Newhouse School of Public Communications, and is a long term television journalist, working for Croatian public broadcasting service as well as Head of TV Journalism department in the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb.
