France in the turn of the 20th century. The division is rampant between Catholics and Republicans. Both with the best for France, but their views as polarizing and opposing as oil and water. It will only take a hero to change it all. Eurochannel premieres The Winds of Passion, an époque drama about politics, but overall, true love!
Set around 1905, The Winds of Passion follows the story of Marie, a school teacher who longs for Catholics and Republicans to live in peace. Although she opposes the imposition of religion in schools, she also battles for freedom of beliefs. Most of all, she fights against the division in her family because of these issues.
As soon as Marie is appointed as the headmaster in the school, she immediately resists the traditionalism of her grandfather and priest Courtois. She also aims at taking her brother away from religious extremism. During a fight, Marie runs into Julien, her first love, who becomes a brilliant Republican activist who turns to be as extremist as her brother.
Eurochannel invites you to travel back in time to early 20th century France to relive the turmoil that divided families and a whole country. It’s only thanks to the 1905 law vote, instituting a neat separation between State and Church that things will calm down!
In the climax of political turmoil in France between republicans and Catholics, a young teacher and a fierce activist fall in love and marry in an impossible romance that will know no boundaries. Through hope, resilience and affection they will help shape the future of their country.
