Three Must-Visit Places in Belgrade

Celebrating the premiere of the Eurochannel exclusive series Black Sun, a thriller set in Belgrade between the 1920s to the 1940s, we have selected three places you must visit when going to this vibrant city. You will not regret adding them to your checklist!

Belgrade Fortress

One of the most imposing constructions in Central Europe, the Belgrade Fortress consists of the old citadel (Upper and Lower Town) and Kalemegdan Park where the River Sava and the Danube meet. Today we can find this outstanding construction within an urban area of modern Belgrade.

Belgrade Fortress was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979 and is protected by the Republic of Serbia. It is the most visited tourist attraction in Belgrade. Since the admission is free, it is estimated that the total number of visitors -- foreign and domestic -- is over 2 million yearly.

Skadarlija

Considered by many as the vibrant soul of Belgrade, Skadarlija is a vintage street located within an urban neighborhood in the Serbian capital – in what is called the Old Town. Skadarlija partially preserved the ambience of the traditional urban architecture, including its archaic urban organization, and is known as the main bohemian quarter of Belgrade, similar to Paris' Montmartre.

After Kalemegdan, Skadarlija is the second most visited tourist attraction in Belgrade, contributing to one-third of the city's foreign currency income.

Nicola Tesla Museum

One of the most important Serbians in history was Nicola Tesla – the legend even says that he was the one who actually invented electricity! Well, In Belgrade you can find a museum dedicated to this great figure of science and history, honoring his career and life.

Located within the diplomatic neighborhood in Vračar, the museum displays several of Tesla’s inventions along with many of his items. If you ever wanted to create light simply by holding a light bulb, this is the place to go!
