Top 3 Places to Visit in Greece

Celebrating the airing of the comedy The Greek Affair, about a young man who travels across Greece in a journey of self-discovery, we have selected three places everybody should visit at least once when in the country!

The Acropolis

Probably the most famous ancient archaeological sites place in Greece and the planet, The Acropolis offers a stunning view of how ancient Greeks lived. Located on a limestone hill high above Athens, the Acropolis has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world.

Delphi

Second to the Acropolis in Athens, Delphi is Greece’s most popular archaeological site. Located about two hours away from Athens, Delphi was once revered by the ancient Greeks as the center of the earth. Dedicated to the god, Apollo, Delphi was an important oracle. In ancient times, people would visit this sacred place to ask the priestess for guidance on numerous matters, ranging from relationships, politics, and farming.

Meteora

In Greek, Meteora means “suspended in the air! Such a name couldn’t fit better this place. Meteora sits in the spectacular cliffs that rise more than 1,200 feet (366 meters) into the air, overseeing the small towns of Kalambaka and Kastraki in the north-central mainland of Greece. Meteora is famous for its historic monasteries perched along the summits, which were built by monks seeking spiritual isolation and freedom from religious persecution in the 14th and 15th centuries.
