Come and meet a dark and ruthless doctor who will do anything to climb to the place he thinks he deserves in the world. Eurochannel premieres the Croatian blockbuster Vegetarian Cannibal.

Vegetarian Cannibal is a contemporary story about a successful, but immoral and corrupt gynecologist who accomplishes his ambitions with the help of the Zagreb mafia. Directed by Branko Schmidt, the film is based on the novel by Ivo Balenović, with whom Schmidt also collaborated on his previous film Metastases.

As a portrait of corruption in Croatian society, Vegetarian Cannibal serves as a prism through which analyze the ills of the entire nation with stunning credibility. Such honesty and well performed acting has made of the movie an indisputable award winner, earning five awards at Croatia’s Pula Film Festival, including Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Director, as well as being selected as Croatia’s official entry to the Academy Awards in 2012.

Eurochannel invites you to be thrilled and amused by what was described by the critics as “a cruel film commentary of our present times cutting into the sick social tissue where there are truly no boundaries between respectable citizens and the social scum.” A unique heart-stopping cinematic tour-de-force!
