Character description: Lulu
Played by Lene Maria Christensen
Lulu is a 34 year old hairdresser with her own salon and two employees. She has been living with her beloved Leon for 10 years. Together they have two children, Johnathan, their 9-year-old son, Isabella, Lulu’s 15-years-old daughter from her previous marriage.
Lulu likes things to be neat and orderly. Her tidy house and friendly salon are testaments to her diligence in keeping up appearances.
Even a perfect wife can hide a darker side. Lulu is not blind to Leon’s ties to the mafia, but she has chosen to turn a blind eye to his criminal tendencies because she thinks Leon is the right man for her family.
When asked about her family’s secrets, Lulu’s response is a cheerful smile and a serene platitude: “Any woman, who wants to share her life with a man, has to close her eyes to something. Leon isn’t an alcoholic and he doesn’t sleep around and that’s enough for me.” This happy illusion is maintained by keeping Leon’s criminal life out of sight in the basement of their house.
The day Leon proposed to Lulu, she made it perfectly clear that she would not marry him until he had stayed out of jail and out of trouble for five years. After all, it doesn’t matter what you do, just that you don’t get caught.
