Norwegian Cozy (Koselig med Peis, 2010)
Director: Thomas Torjussen
The Norwegian is known as one of the most perfects societies in the world. However, not everything goes always in the right direction. Eurochannel invites you to discover the difficulties and family dramas in modern Norway with the new series Norwegian Cozy, a poignant drama about not only Norwegian but also world modern family problems.
Norwegian Cozy focuses on the broken and dysfunctional Broch-Hansen family. The central character is the 36 year-old Georg, who has just split from his partner and goes back to live with his father Frank. His younger brother, Terje, creates Internet happenings and has distanced himself from his family.
Thomas Torjussenn worked three years on the script and even went to the US to learn how to become a show runner and adapt its principles to Nordic television. Inspired by US family dramas like Six Feet Under, he carried his creative vision through, and shared the directing credit with Anne Sewitsky and established cinematographer Daniel Voldheim.
Norwegian Cozy's originality is in its playfulness with the characters and use of fantasy and surrealism. But its core subject of family struggles makes it the right candidate for a prime time slot.
