Antoinette Beumer is a critically acclaimed film director and writer, hailing from Amsterdam. Born in 1962, she graduated from the Amsterdam Theater School in 1989, majoring in directing. Beumer is known for her work on several popular Dutch TV series, including Willemspark (2007) and In Treatment (2011).

In 2010, Beumer made her feature film debut with The Happy Housewife, which was based on a best-selling book by Heleen van Royen. The film starred Carice van Houten and was a huge hit, attracting more than 500,000 viewers. In the same year, she also directed the film Loft, which starred Barry Atsma and Marwan Kenzari. These two films won Beumer the prestigious Platinum Film Award, making her the first-ever director to win two Platinum Films in one year.

In 2012, Beumer premiered her film Jackie at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film starred Carice and Jelka van Houten, alongside Oscar-winner Holly Hunter. A year later, she directed the hit romantic comedy Soof, which was often referred to as the Dutch Bridget Jones. The film was so popular that it had its remake rights sold to both Germany and the United States.

In 2015, Beumer released her most recent feature film, Rendez-Vous. After this film, she took a break from directing to focus on writing. In early 2018, she published her debut novel, My Father is an Airplane, which was published by Lebowski Publishers. The film rights have been optioned to Topkapi Films, with Beumer set to direct.

Beumer is the sister of actress Famke Janssen and actress/screenwriter Marjolein Beumer. She has two children with director Joram Lürsen and is married to Maaik Krijgsman. With her husband, she made the documentary See You in Vegas about the renowned illusionist Hans Klok.
