Biography:

Born on May 8th, 1975 in Madrid, Spain, Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler was only three years old when his parents divorced. At the age of eight, young Enrique moved to Florida to join his father, Julio, a successful singer, in Miami. In the United States, he led a teenager normal life while writing songs in secret. After a year of Business Administration studies, he decided to follow his desires away from the university.

Enrique initially wanted his first CD, released in 1995, to be released under an alias. He didn't want special treatment or comparisons to his famous father and insisted on being called Enrique Martinez. He waited to be signed with the label Fonovisa before telling his parents of his aspirations to be a singer. For the release of his first album in 1995, the record company chose not to use his alias and released the album with the name Enrique Iglesias. The album went on to sell 1 million copies in just three months, rare for a non-English album.

In 1997, he released Vivir meaning "to live". The album was significant not only for its entry into the American charts but it also led to his first world tour. By 1998, Enrique's popularity continued to soar. In 1999, Enrique began singing in English, inspired by other Latino singers like Ricky Martin who had experienced bilingual musical success.
