Henri Cartier-Bresson is truly a “man of lights”. In every sense of the phrase. At 93, the eye and word of this master photographer, founder of the renown agency Magnum with his friends Capa, Rodger and Seymour, are still very acute. Playfully provocative and maliciously insolent, he never hesitates to criticize his photos when he deems them imperfect. When he talks about his life and the importance he has always given to painting, geometry and the creative disciplines during this interview, he refers to a few artist friends whose work touches his heart: the Georgian photographer Klavdij Sluban, the painter Avigdor Arika, the film director Otar Iosseliani and the cellist Paolo Beschi. A selection of friendships that reveals his own personality. As much as his affirmation that: "In photography, the only thing that counts is luck. You have to be ready, you have to keep your eyes open – the rest is just chance."
