Interview with Rafaella Rea (Giovanna) How were you inspired by the story of My Wings? There are stories that capture you more than others. Le Ali is one of those stories. The fact that it is a true story amplifies its power; the same force that defines the characters was for me the inspiring part of this work. This was at the same time a huge responsibility to confront the people who actually lived this story for real. In my opinion, the deepest meaning of this story that at first glance is more of a tragedy is that it is much actually a purely optimistic message about life. When you fight, nothing is truly impossible; nothing may deprive you of what you desire to move forward. How do you think you would have been reacted if you have become suddenly quadriplegic? This is one of those questions that go through your head when you think about it. Every time someone lives a tragedy, we never think that tragedy could happen to us or at least we do not want to think about it. To answer to your question, when I try to find out, it's hard to go there even with imagination... I truly believe that in life you can not anticipate your reactions to a situation like that one. But I can tell myself I am a courageous person who tries to overcome difficulties but I do not know how I would react.... I really do not know.
