Rammstein: A career of controversies Rammstein Presentation: There’s no other live act in Germany like Raimmstein’s. Pyrotechnical effects, sexual references, huge light sets and thousands of kilowatts are their trademark. They have done everything in their to make the German Nü and Industrial Metal recognized worldwide. In their almost 20 year career they have sold more than 15 million records worldwide and rock audiences across five continents with hits like “Du Hast”, “Das Modell”, “Tier” and“Alter Mann”, among others . The band has released six studio albums and done the same number of tours. They have been honoured with more than four double platinum discs and four of their albums went gold. A vertiginous journey through hard guitar riffs, tough lyrics and scandals. Biography: Rammstein’s story begun before the Berlin Wall was taken down. It was 1983 when in Feeling B was spotted by the punk scene as the promise of German alternative rock. Flake Lorenz and Paul Landers, future members of Rammstein, were in that band. In another band resided Till Lindermann with his fellow friends Kruspe, Oliver Riedel, and Christoph Schneider. In 1993, the band was formed properly and the musicians started playing in small clubs around Berlin, performing mostly songs in English. Rammstein signed with Motor Music, a Universal Music affiliation, in 1995 and the same year, produced their debut album, Herzeleid, which David Lynch later on extracted some songs from to include in his film Lost Highway. After the movie success, the band became famous in America. Their second album, Sehnsucht (1997) included worldwide hits such as “Du Hast”. The record reached the number one in German charts and allowed them to tour for the first time in the United States. The success they found has never leaved them. In 2000, the release of Mutter took them to Mexico. Apart from German, the band has also recorded in English, Spanish, French and Russian. Despite rumours during the last years within the rock press about a possible split up, the members remain together and will be touring next year again in America.
