Presentation:

Brigitte Bardot was the definition of a bombshell. Her style, sex-appeal, and talent kept her in the hearts, the minds and the fantasies of men all over Europe in the 1960s and 1970s. Now, Eurochannel brings her beauty back to the screen with an uncut broadcast of her 1970 film, The Novices. This film, one of the last of her career, was also one of her greatest, and in this special tribute, a new generation can bask in her grace and elegance.

Bardot embodied perfection. She began her career as a model, but in 1952 made her grand debut in film with the movie Crazy for Love. She was an instant hit in France, and soon gained worldwide stardom when, just a year after her introduction, she travelled to America to act in the movie Act of Love alongside Kirk Douglas. She went on to star in ...And God Created Woman in 1956, under the direction of her then husband Roger Vadim.

Still, her passions didn't stop with animal rights. She became involved in politics, writing the controversial book A Scream in Silence in 2003. She continues to be involved in international issues to this day, lending her voice to whatever cause she believes in. Agree or disagree, nobody can deny her dedication.

Synopsis:

The Novices is the story of Bardot's character, the beautiful nun Sister Agnes on a seemingly normal day at the beach. Not even a Nun can swim in clothing as clunky as the Habit, however, so she's forced to defrock down to a bathing suit. As she relaxes in the water, an unruly crowd of young men on motorcycles steal her clothing, leaving her stranded, nearly naked for all to see.

In a series of strange misunderstandings, the hapless nun soon finds herself at the police station, where she meets a prostitute named Lisa (Anne Girardot). Lisa isn't quite the lost soul that Agnes expected her to be: on the contrary, the fiery call-girl has a lust for life that Sister Agnes had never imagined before. In an effort to understand her quirky new friend, Agnes tries her hand as a working girl herself. This begins a misadventure that leads the young beauty to ask whether she's meant to live a life of piety or of pleasure.
