Totally Personal (Sasvim licno, 2005) Director: Nedzad Begovic Presentation: Filmmaker Nedzad Begovic reflects on his upbringing in Bosnia in Totally Personal, an aptly titled documentary feature that takes an intimate look at Nedzad's family and childhood. Nedzad is not just the subject of the documentary, but the director. Deeply moving, the film looks at how his family managed to survive the war by burning the toes off of shoes for fuel and got their vitamin C from the pear tree in their garden. Nedzad manages to tell these stories in an uplifting and humorous manner, showing that he does not look back at his life with sadness. Totally Personal is a special portrait of one man's life, as unconventional as it may be, told with love and warmth. While Nedzad Begovic has presented films in over 250 cities around the world but Totally Personal is his first feature film. It was presented at New York's Tribeca Film Festival.
