Biography Chris Fallen

“I’m 31 years of age from Greenock, Scotland. I left school at sixteen and served an apprenticeship as a marine engineer in Kvaerner’s Govan shipyard on the Clydeside. I completed my four-year apprenticeship but grew weary of it and left a year later in 2001, remaining unemployed until 2003, when I in enrolled on the Television & Video Production course at James Watt College, Greenock – leaving in 2005 with an HND and my first short film Love Under A Different Name.

That same year I was accepted to The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where I studied a BA (Hons) in Digital Film & Television for a further two years, leaving in the summer of 2007 with a 2.1 and a further two films – Shit Happens and Spare Change.

In October of 2007 I started on the MA Screenwriting course at Screen Academy Scotland, graduating in late 2008. I spent the next two years working as a live sports editor and VT operator until I decided I’d gone off track with regards to my career path, and that’s when I made A Cheeky 20.

The film has since won a couple of awards (Under 5 Mins category at The Smalls Short Film Fest 2010 and the Open Competition at Glenrothes Film Festival 2010), which gave me the confidence I needed to really push forward with writing and directing my own material. I’ve since gone back to Screen Academy Scotland, where I am currently studying an MFA in Advanced Film Practice (Directing), with a new short film in pre-production and longer-form projects in the advanced development stages.”
