Biography Massimo Ghini Born in Rome, Massimo Ghini began his career as a host in a tourist village. He then became an actor by playing with directors such as Franco Zeffirelli, Giorgio Strehler, Giuseppe Patroni Griffi and Gabriele Lavia. He also worked on his beginnings as a radio host and participated in film dubbing where he made friendships with other aspiring actors. In 1979 he got his first role in the film C'era una Volta la Legge and continued with roles in Segreti Segreti of Bertolucci, and La Neve Nel Bicchiere of Vancini. At the same time, he lent his voice to dub Hollywood actors’ voices such as the one of Nicolas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. Ghini then became the interpreter for many authors of the new Italian film scene such as Paolo Virzi who made his first film, La Bella Vita, in 1994. He turned out to be a complete and versatile actor which earned him complex roles in movies such as Senza Pelle by Alessandro Alatri. In 1997 he won international recognition with Francesco Rosi’s film La Trêve (The Truce). Franco Zeffirelli, with whom he had worked in the theatre, offered him the role of his father in A Tea with Mussolini, an autobiographical film. In 2000, he worked with Sean Penn and Kristin Scott Thomas in Just One Night. During that year he also worked in television production roles. Years later he played many roles in TV movies and series like Raccontami. The General Secretary of the Italian Union of Actors (CGIL), Massimo Ghinia, inherited the passion for politics from his father, a partisan and communist militant. In 1986, he had a relationship with actress Sabrina Ferilli, from whom he divorced a year later to marry the actress Nancy Brilli. He Brilli while filming the television mini-series Due Fratelli. The marriage lasted three years and gave birth to four children. |
