Cristina Branco Presentation: Member of the Portuguese music scene, Cristina Branco has left her mark on fado (the traditional genre of Portugal). Her most recent album, Kronos, was released in 2009 and is the topic of her special on Eurochannel. The program presents an exclusive interview with the singer and clips of the main songs on the album. Introduced at the age of 18 years to a performance by Amália Rodrigues, one of the icons of fado, Cristina fell in love with the genre and made it her form of expression. Preserving the main characteristics while adding more upbeat melodies, the singer has released ten albums including Murmúrios and Post-Scriptum, recipients of the French award Prix Choc de l’Anée, from the magazine Le Monde de la Musique. Apart from her strong stage presence, Cristina is known for the originality of her interpretations which has fans in many respected Portuguese musicians. Containing new songs composed by artists such as Sérgio Godinho, Amélia Muge and Ricardo Dias, Kronosreveals the talent and maturity of the singer who reinvented one of Europe’s oldest music genres.
