Guimet Museum Director: Jerome Prieur After 4 years of renovation, the Guimet National Museum of Asian Art re-opened its doors to the public on January 2001 the 20th in Paris. This museum is considered today as a real museum of civilisation endowed with an exceptional heritage. A setting of dialogue between Europe and the Asian continent, it weaves a symbolic bond with that part of the world. His re-opening is a strong gesture towards Asia. At the moment when the craze for Asian cinema and literature is at its height, the museum offers the public a putting into perspective of this art throughout collections and unique objects in the world as well as a highlighting of great exchange trends between the West, the Indian World and the Extreme East.
