Joss has been widely compared to the soul diva Aretha Franklin. The cheers of the critics and her debut album’s excellent sell, The Soul Sessions (2003), confirmed that the comparisons weren’t exaggerated. Born in Devon, in England, in April 1987, Joscelyn Eve Stoker is passionate very early by Soul Music and R&B.

When she was 15, she went to New York to increase her career opportunities. In a casting, when she sang Donna Summer’s “On the radio”, she was offered her first contract with the American label "S - Curve Records”.

She rocketed to fame in late 2003 with her multi-platinum debut album, The Soul Sessions, which made the 2004 Mercury Prize shortlist. Her second album, the also-multi-platinum Mind, Body & Soul, where she wrote eleven of the fourteen songs, topped the albums chart in the United Kingdom for one week and spawned the UK top ten hit "You Had Me". Both album and single received a nomination at the 2005 Grammy Awards, while Stone herself was nominated for "Best New Artist".

To sum up, throughout her career, Stone has sold over ten million albums worldwide, and has won two BRIT Awards and one Grammy Award. She has also ventured in the film business, making her acting debut in the fantasy adventure film Eragon, released in December 2006, as a witch named Angela.
