Return to the Italian 1960s with the Ferruccis in Looking Back’s second season. The show provides a gripping view of the changes that shook Italy in the early ‘60s, unleashing the urgent ambition, but also the fragility, of men such Luciano, the father of the family, while putting to the test the passionate practicality of Elena, the mother, and offering the three Ferrucci children, Andrea, Titti and Carlo, a chance to grow up with a generation about to turn traditional Italian society, not to mention the way of life of their own Grandmother Innocenza, upside down.

The second season begins with the arrival of a new family member, Andrea and Francesca’s daughter, Anita. She’s not the only new addition. A mysterious Greek man named Rocco arrives at the child’s baptism and without the intervening of Padre, things could have ended much differently. What ties does he have with the Ferrucis and what could he possibly want?

Synopsis:

Episode 1

The Ferrucci family has two new additions. One is Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) and Francesca's daughter, Anita. The other is a mysterious man named Rocco (Fabio Ghidoni) who has intentions to kill Luciano (Massimo Ghini). He is being investigated and meanwhile, Guido, the boy Titti (Andrea Bosca) is in love with returns from America without his wife Caroline (Sascha Zacharias).

Guido's wife, Caroline, shows up and announces she is pregnant. Titti (Carlotta Tesconi), now heartbroken, finds a connection with a boy from school named Ernesto (Jacopo Maria Bicocchi). Andrea decides that maybe it is time for him to start looking for a new place to live. Livio Sartori, the sworn enemy of Andrea's father, thinks that maybe he will try to go after Andrea instead of Luciano.

Andrea manages to overcome his father's distrust when he agrees to participate in the public contract for a school and draws up the budget. Furio meets a beautiful girl named Italia at a bar and falls in love with her. Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) is convinced by his friend to hire a maid in his house, the very same Italia. She will be under the watchful eye of Nonna Innocenza. Titti meets Rocco during a lecture at school and discovers that he has ties to the Ferrucci family.

It's Christmas 1964 and Carlo's present is the arrival of his Marco, best friend who moved to England a year earlier. Caroline and Guido's present is the birth of their son, Gregorio. Luciano is convinced that the fires occurring are being caused by Satori and is desperate to find the truth. Will he get more than he bargained for come New Year's Eve?

In 1965, Francesca (Maria P. Petruolo) begins working in Carlo’s (Gianluca Grecchi) school but her first student is Maria. Luciano (Massimo Ghini) and Andrea’s (Edoardo Natoli) relationship is growing increasingly tense when Andrea carries out the workings of a contract alone. Sartori convinces Rocco (Fabio Ghidoni) to try and sabotage the opening of a store that Luciano was involved in.

After initial hostilities between Carlo (Gianluca Grecchi) and his classmate Nicola, the two become good friends. Francesca continues to teach at the school and decides to enter her students in a competition. Meanwhile, Andrea starts working at a construction site with Rocco (Fabio Ghidoni) at Luciano’s (Massimo Ghini) request. Elena’s (Lunetta Savino) job at the store is going well and she is hired to be the store manager.

In an act of defiance toward Luciano (Massimo Ghini), Titti (Carlotta Tesconi) runs away with Don Milani. She is not the only one to leave, Caroline, Guido (Andrea Bosca), and their child also take time on the road and the two women’s paths eventually cross. There is trouble brewing at Luciano and Andrea’s business as debts begin to rise and tension between the workers gets worse.

Elena (Lunetta Savino) knows about the discovery and with Padre Negozionale’s advice, decides to keep quiet about the discovery for the good of the family. She tries to get an explanation from Luciano (Massimo Ghini) but finds that it is difficult to forgive him for what he did and accepts a job on a film set in the town of Pescocostanzo.

Luciano (Massimo Ghini) visits Elena (Lunetta Savino) on the film set and is upset at her affectionate behavior toward one of the photographers. When she and Luciano are finally alone, she confesses what she knows about who Rocco (Fabio Ghidoni)  is and eventually find forgiveness.

Titti (Cristina Cellini) cannot find peace and seeks comfort in Ernesto’s (Jacopo Maria Bicocchi) arms. The two become engaged and when Furio (Mauro Meconi) is released from prison, they celebrate both occasions at the Ferrucci household. Rocco (Fabio Ghidoni) is arrested for attempting to sabotage the construction and the truth about his relationship between him, Luciano (Massimo Ghini), and Sartori (Carlina Torta) is uncovered.

Magdalena (Raffaella Rea) persuades Rocco (Fabio Ghidoni)  to let her sister move in with them. When Rocco is at the bus station waiting for Titti (Cristina Cellini), he decides at the last minute to leave to Turin with her. Luciano (Massimo Ghini), and Elena (Lunetta Savino) become crazed when they find out their daughter has run away.

Francesca (Maria P. Petruolo) discovers that the land Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) is building on belongs to Sophia (Ilaria Spada) and throws him out of the house in jealousy. Meanwhile, a tragedy in Guido’s (Andrea Bosca) life puts him in a painful state. Elena (Lunetta Savino) goes to Turin to try and get Titti (Cristina Cellini) to return home.

After discovering how he was deceived, Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) ends his relationship with Sartori (Carlina Torta). He reunites with his father and waits for Francesca’s (Maria P. Petruolo) forgiveness. Titti (Cristina Cellini) discovers that Rocco (Fabio Ghidoni) opened a letter addressed to Guido (Andrea Bosca) and after a fight, she returns home. When everything seems to be going back to normal, Luciano (Massimo Ghini) is forced to return to work with Sartori, but how will their work relationship change?

Luciano's (Massimo Ghini) trial is drawing to an end, and the head of the Ferrucci family must wrestle with the impending possibility of going to jail. More than just a disaster for him, the family will suffer as well, as his imprisonment would cost them their house. Meanwhile, the family is struggling with their own losses and departures, as Guido (Andrea Bosca), the great love of Titti (Carlotta Tesconi), leaves to America and Carlo (Gianluca Grecchi) must say goodbye to his friend Marco (Ripanti Guido) who goes to live with his mother in England.

Everything changed in the 60's, including the role of women. Titti (Carlotta Tesconi) is determined to avoid becoming a full-time housewife like her mother, Elena (Lunetta Savino). In the midst of all of this, the pregnant Anna (Giorgia Cardaci), goes searching for Italo (Giampiero Judica).

In October 1962, new musical sensations were changing the face of Italy. Carlo (Gianluca Grecchi) and Marco (Guido Ripanti) are caught up in the changes, and spend their time endlessly listening to the song Carissimo Pinocchio by Jhonny Dorelli. Luciano (Massimo Ghini), the head of the family, is also a music lover, but his own musical habits get him into serious trouble at work, leading to his being fired. Terrified of disappointing his family, Luciano hides the truth from them as best he can.

Luciano (Massimo Ghini) and Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) leave for work far from home. For the first time, all the Ferrucci women are left alone. Only young Carlo (Gianluca Grecchi) remains, but while the women adjust to these new circumstances, he is able to do something that no man in his family has ever been able to do before: understand women.

The year 1962 brought a host of changes, but none more obvious than the climactic rise in immigration to Italy. The waves of incoming families changed the face of Italy forever, making it a mix of culture language and dialect that were sometimes indistinguishable, even amongst themselves. The Ferruccis are not immune from these changes, and when Salvatore Lo Buono (Luigi Maria Burruano), friend of Grandmother Innocenza (Mariolina De Fano), moves into the Ferrucci house to work with Luciano (Massimo Ghini), no one except Innocenza is able to understand him. Worse, Carlo(Gianluca Grecchi) manages to convince himself that Salvatore’s suitcase is more than meets the eye, and that it contains a lethal weapon.

The family’s trust is put to the test when Luciano Ferrucci (Massimo Ghini) and his friend Livio Sartori (Ivano Marescotti) are investigated by the treasury. Luciano wants to believe that his business is being conducted honestly, but his suspicions grow as the investigation continues, and he sets out to find the truth. As he searches for any evidence of illegal activity, he grows further and further apart from Livio, and he soon finds himself at a crossroads that could change his life forever.

In the year 1961, Italy began a wave of censorship, which cracked down on nearly all forms of art. During a film session, Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) is caught in the middle of a police raid. There, his friend Guido (Andrea Bosca) gets into a fight with one of the officers and appears on the news. Now Andrea must explain this shocking turn of events to Luciano (Massimo Ghini), his father.

Titti (Carlotta Tesconi) knows her new teacher, whose style as an anti-conformist causes controversy in her authoritarian school. Soon, thanks to his unorthodox methods, he is removed, which generates anger in Titti who comes to his defense. As a result, she is suspended by the principal who in turn causes the anger of her father. But rebellious Titti does not stop there: the young woman decides to leave school to marry Antonio (Primo Reggiani).

Extraordinary events in history affect the lives of the Ferrucci family. In January 1960, the Winter Olympics transform bobsled athlete Eugenio Monti into a god for Italians. Young Carlo (Gianluca Grecchi) is one of his most fervent admirers. Two years later; an eclipse affects the moods and attitudes of everyone. Even later, in 1968, the reason for emotional changes is Yuri Gagarin, the first man to travel in space.

In summer 1960, the streets are charged with emotion, and filled past capacity with political demonstrations, and rowdy spectators drunk on joy from Italy’s success at the Olympic Games in Rome. Carlo (Gianluca Grecchi) suffers a confusing misunderstanding with his father’s employer, Livio Sartori (Ivano Marescotti). In the darkness of the cinema, Italo Monti (Giampiero Judica) kisses Aunt Anna (Giorgia Cardaci). Meanwhile, Luciano quits his job at the Olympic Village, deciding that his son Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) may just become the first Ferrucci to earn a diploma.

Carlo, the youngest member of the Ferrucci family, is born on January 3rd, 1954. Carlo is welcomed by his family, which includes Luciano (Massimo Ghini), his wife Elena (Lunetta Savino), their sons Andrea (Edoardo Natoli) and Titti (Carlotta Tesconi), Grandmother Innocenza (Mariolina De Fano), and her sister-in-law Ana (Giorgia Cardaci). On that same auspicious day, Italy is introduced to television, a device Luciano will not be able to afford until the beginning of the 1960s.

In this new decade, Italy struggles to understand the many changes that are happening the world over. The Ferruccis, meanwhile, must choose between change and tradition, and struggle with doubt over how their lives will be changed. Meanwhile, Andrea, now on the verge of turning 18, believes that he has discovered the love of his life, in the form of a classmate. Unable to contain himself, he plans to confesses his feelings at a party, but may be sabotaged by a long suffering, gloomy outlook. On the other hand, the young Titti, 17, has never kissed anyone and can’t wait to live this special moment. Unlike his brother, he never loses control of any situation, even one as unique as falling in love. In this way Titti is much like his father, who faces life’s many challenges with stoic courage.
