Melting Pot Café Cast: Stéphane Bissot, Raphaëlle Subansu, Fabrice Murgia, Salvatore Adamo Synopsis: Season 1: Episode 1: Madam Astrid is the owner of the “Melting Pot Café”, the most “typically Brussels” café in the Belgian capital. Just as her son Philippe is about to embark upon a humanitarian mission in Africa with his girlfriend Stephanie, he learns that the family business is on the brink of bankruptcy. He decides to stay and save the Melting Pot before flying off to save the planet, and postpones his flight. Episode 2: Madam Astrid hopes the brewery will lend her money to cover the bankrupt: the delegate has a crush on her. But he is suddenly replaced by a young saleswoman, Karine (Marie Simons), that Astrid cannot bear at all. Philippe decides to make Karine become an ally, and invites her to present his rescue plan. Seduced, Karine wants him to manage the café. Astrid does not appreciate the idea. Episode 3 Philippe tries to convince his mother to sign the contract with the brewery and to let him “take the power” momentarily. When she discovers he wants to go to Africa, she falls down, afraid to lose him. Meanwhile, Pierrot, a habitué of the café, hides from his daughter: he does not want her to find out what he has become. But Detective Vervloet (Patrick Spadrille) will help them to find each other. Episode 4 On the phone, Astrid tells Stephanie –her son’s girlfriend– that he will not join her in Africa. He now owns and manages the café! Meanwhile, Gerard, an ex steward of the flight company Sabena, organizes a meeting in the same place to commemorate its bankruptcy, and calls the press. Threatened of eviction, Astrid decides to seize the opportunity and send an SOS through the media. Philippe turns out while she is being interviewed: he got news from Stephanie, and is fed up with her mother conducting his life. He intends to leave once the job is done. Episode 5 The brewery helps the Melting Pot Café with redecorating it in all. Astrid decided to retire in her room, pretending to be sick and getting Philippe’s sympathy. She suddenly realizes that Karine is in love with her son, and tries to elaborate a strategy so that they fall in love with each other and that Philippe stays. When Astrid fires the decorator for having moved her jukebox, Philippe decides to leave immediately the place, and joins Stephanie in Africa. Episode 6 Astrid calls for all her customers to help her reorganize the café, without any decorator. The day she opens, the landlord comes with a process server to evict her from the place. She tries to call Karine for help, but the latter is without any resources: her father, the owner of the brewery, has finally decided not to let her manage it anymore. |
