Moby Presentation: One of Europe’s best selling DJs is American-born Moby. With eight top 40 singles in the UK during the 90’s alone, Moby helped shape the modern European electronica scene into what it is today. Moby has been involved in the music scene since the early ‘80s but it wasn’t until he released “Go” in 1991 that people took notice. The song led to a long career that is still seeing success, as shown by his 2008 album, Hotel, going gold and platinum in over 20 countries and the singles “Lift Me Up” and “Slipping Away” both going to #1 in Europe. Moby’s Euromusic special will not only take a look at the songs that made him a powerful force in the music world, but will also include an exclusive interview conducted by Eurochannel with the artist. In it, Moby reflects on his career, his greatest achievements, and even his take on recent world events. Biography: Born in Harlem, New York as Richard Melville Hall, Moby got his stage name party because he is related to the author of Moby Dick, Herman Melville. The author was his great-great-great-granduncle. In the ‘80s, Moby was involved with many rock groups where he played guitar, drums, and sang. He released his first album in 1991 and it was his second single, “Go”, that launched him to the top 10 in UK charts. In the years that followed, Moby toured across Europe and made a name for himself not just amongst club goers, but everyone. He continued to have success throughout the rest of the ‘90s and into the 2000’s with his records getting good reviews and millions of sales. His 2008 album, Hotel, was seen as a sort of comeback for the artist as it put him back on the top of the charts in Europe. Moby is still making music and is already working on his next album.
