Presentation:

In wartime, every human emotion is heightened. There is the fear of battle. The hatred for the enemy. The sorrow of loss. There’s even laughter. This month, Eurochannel shows you the funny side of war in a hilarious comedy about love, sex, infidelity, and war, starring Poland’s most famous actors.

When Czechoslovakia is engulfed in war, Poland sends a detachment of troops to help the local government crush the insurgents. Led by the tender-hearted woman Major Grążlowa, this unlikely team must defeat not only the enemy, but also the extravagant, improbable obstacles standing between them and Czechoslovakia.

Adding a bit of spice to the laughter is Private Romek, a dashing soldier who is embroiled in a steamy affair with the Major. Nothing will stop Romek from getting his way, not even the facts that A.) The Major is married and B.) her husband is his superior officer. Romek’s superior, in an effort to split the cheating couple apart, sends him on a suicide mission through a destroyed town in a rickety old tank. Things go from bad to worse when the junk-pile of a tank crashes through a local pub, spilling a few drinks and ruining a perfectly good party.

These are just a few of the trials that our heroes must endure. Through wit, cunning, teamwork, and a good sense of humour, they manage to survive even the most bizarre and dangerous of situations.

Synopsis:

August 1968. A unit of the Polish People’s Republic Army is sent on a “brotherly help mission” to Czechoslovakia. The unit makes sluggish progress, and their tank “Ladybird” goes missing just after crossing the border. Major Grążlowa (Eva Halubova), accompanied by her jealous husband, gets on a motorbike and conducts a chase in an effort to avoid being punished for the disorder in her unit. At the same time, she wants to catch and humiliate her lover, Romek (Przemyslaw Bluszcz), who turned her down shortly before the invasion.
