San Remo’s Three Most Famous Acts

San Remo’s Three Most Famous Acts

Regarded as one of the most important music festivals in Europe, the San Remo Music Festival has hosted incredible musical acts for years, including the rock legends Queen. It has also been a platform for new artists to make their debut into international stardom. This is a list of acts that became famous across the world after the San Remo competition.

Eros Ramazotti

Eros Ramazotti

Born in Rome, Ramazotti became famous after winning at the San Remo Music Festival in 1984 with the single “Terra Promessa.”

He has released 11 studio albums, three compilation albums, three live albums, 37 singles, and performed with artists such as Joe Cocker, Cher and Luciano Pavarotti. Ramazotti is a worldwide super star who has recorded in Spanish, English and, of course, Italian.

Laura Pausini

Born in Sarolo, Pausini started her career as a teenager. She recorded her first EP with her father’s help, but it wasn’t very successful. Her true debut came at the San Remo Festival, when she won the award for Best Newcomer in 1993 with the single “La Solitudine.”

Soon after, Pausini’s name made it to the covers of Italian newspapers. In a clever movement, she started to record in Spanish, a strategy that took her to the top of the Latin American charts.

Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli

Much like Laura Pausini, Andrea Bocelli’s life changed after his participation in the San Remo Festival. Bocelli grew up on a farm, helping his father’s small wine business. Having taken piano lessons in his childhood, he made a modest living by playing the piano at bars.

In 1993, Bocelli decided to take part in an audition for a demo with Zucchero, and ended up being endorsed by none other than Luciano Pavarotti. One year later he won in the San Remo Music Festival the category of Newcomer and now is renowned tenor with 13 albums and multiple awards.
