The Kooks Presentation: They say that their music is “catchy as hell”. They aren’t wrong. This month, The Kooks take over Eurochannel to show off their newest hit videos and two special acoustic performances. Get ready: Their music will shock your senses and carry your mind to places you never imagined. The Kooks, true to their name, are a one-of-a-kind band with a surprising origin story. They got their first record deal without even a demo album to their name, and they didn’t even set foot in the studio until three years later. Despite their quirky origins, this band is loved like few other British musicians, and they have broken countless musical records. Unlike most bands, their label, Virgin Records, had to court them: They were never fond of studio albums, preferring to perform live. Now, however, The Kooks have become a worldwide sensation, earning prestigious awards like The Brit Award, the highest honor in the British music industry. With nearly a decade of experience touring, recording, and performing their sensational hits, The Kooks are now coming to Eurochannel to show sceptics why they were chosen as the best live act in MTV’s Europe Music Awards. Biography: The Kooks were formed in 2003 in Brighton by Luke Pritchard (vocals/guitar), Hugh Harris (lead guitar), Paul Garred (drums), and Max Rafferty (bass guitar) while they were students at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. Soon after recording a very basic demo, and while looking for opportunities to perform live, the band found themselves signing a record deal with Virgin Records. Three years later, The Kooks released their very first studio album: Inside In/Inside Out, breaking into the charts with the singles "Naïve", "She Moves in Her Own Way" and "Ooh La". Two years after that, the band was dogged by rumors of an imminent separation. In spite of this, the band released their second album: Konk. In late 2011 The Kooks released a third album, Junk of the Heart, featuring an exciting single with the same name. Trivia: • The Kooks have a well-known rivalry with the bands The Artic Monkey and Razorlight. The former began when one of The Monkey’s members tried to damage one of The Kook’s guitars, and the latter started when Razorlight accused The Kooks of being “single whores”. |
