The War in Paris (La guerre à Paris, 2002) Director: Yolande Zauberman Yolande Zauberman's World-War II drama tells a sad story of a teenager trapped in a terrible time. In Nazi-occupied Paris, Jules (Jérémie Rénier) is a 19-years-old Jewish boy who lives from day to day, without having an ideal. Whereas, Thomas (Julien Le Gallou), his 15-years-old younger brother wants to act and join the French Resistance movement. Both of them are in love with Maria (Elodie Bouchez), a Spanish member of the French Resistance movement ready to sacrifice her life to liberate occupied France. These young people will become much more mature in this world of heroism, betrayal, bravery and sacrifice where they will have to overcome multiple hardships. In fact, after Jules' brother takes a Nazi weapon, local cop "Commissaire" Romain (Gregoire Colin) puts Jules in a difficult situation: either he must give up his brother, or their parents will be deported. This is the first of many crisis of conscience Jules will face. |
