1919 in St. Roch en Corrèze, a village famous for its Christmas oranges. A year after the end of the Great War, France is still counting its dead and wounded. St. Roch wasn’t spared. The number of dead and missing from the village beats all records. It’s a catastrophe for the tiny community. There is not a single living male between the ages of 18 and 45. A whole generation has been wiped out leaving only the very young or the very old. The economic and social fabric of the village is torn apart as its agriculture and cottage industries grind to a halt. Women are now the life force of the village. They must take its destiny into their own hands.
