Babyshambles
Babyshambles are an English indie rock band established in London. The band was formed by Pete Doherty during a hiatus from his former band The Libertines, however, Babyshambles has, since then, become his main project. Babyshambles draws inspiration from the punk and ska genres, and has released two albums, one EP and a number of singles. The band has received a great deal of attention from the British tabloid press as a result of interest in Doherty's personal life. Even if he became more famous because of his numerous scandals about drugs and his appearances in the largest tabloids with Kate Moss, his eternal ex-actual girlfriend, Pete Doherty is above all, a rock star. For those who doubt about it, Babyshambles, Live at the Elysée-Montmartre is the perfect occasion to admire his musical qualities. In this special, Eurochannel presents the leader and his band in action in one of the most famous and musical French venues. During this show, they are singing hit songs such as “Beauty and the Beast”, “Pipedown” and “Sticks and Stones.” The Babyshambles were born in 2004 and today it's formed by Patrick Walden (guitar), Drew McConnell (bass), Adam Ficek (battery) and, of course, Doherty (singer). The Babyshambles appears after The Libertines excluded Doherty from the group because of his rebellious behaviour and drug problems, which became, instead of his music, the first topic in the media. The first group's CD, Babyshambles Sessions, appeared both romantic and dark, which illustrated its main author's state of mind. The two first singles which invaded the British Charts were “Babyshambles” and “Kilimanjaro”: these songs allowed the group to emerge to fame. In 2005, they launched their second album, Down in Albion, constituted of a mix of rock, punk and reggae with autobiographic lyrics. In “Beauty and the Beast”, Doherty recorded a duet with Kate Moss. In the group, everybody was persuaded that The Libertines belonged to the past while the new band was the promise of a happy and successful future: who will dare today betting the opposite? |
