The most illustrious writers are present: Victor Hugo, Honoré de Balzac, Emile Zola, etc..., adapted, in costume, with the set and the music of that era by one of the best French directors and portrayed by the greatest French actors such as Marie-Anne Chazel, Didier Bourdon, Samuel Le Bihan, and Regis Laspalès Synopsis: Claude Gueux, who is unemployed, lives miserably with his wife and his daughter. Intending to give them a nice Christmas, he steals a wallet, an act that will cost him five years in jail. In prison, he befriends with a young man, Antoine. But M.D., the sadistic warden, separates them. Deprived of the last important thing in the world for him, Claude becomes desperate and angry. He will commit an irreparable crime which leads him to the scaffold.
