KT Trunstall has a very rich cultural background. On the one hand, she was born by a half-Irish, half-Chinese mother and an Irish father; on the other, just days after being born, she was adopted by an English lecturer at the University of St. Andrews married to a school teacher.

Despite the savvy of their parents and the fact they had no music at home, KT Trunstall developed a passion for music in her high school years and she formed her first band in America where spent a year in Kent, Connecticut. Since then, she hasn't stopped playing.

The breakthrough year for KT Trunstall was 2004 when a performance in an American TV show shot her to worldwide fame. Soon after, another TV show boosted her career even more when an American Idol contestant asked her to use the song "Black Horse and The Cherry Three". Immediately, the song peaked at the No 23 on the Billboard charts.

With several nominations in the Mercury Music Prize, the Grammy Awards and the BRIT Awards, honoured at the latter in 2006 as the Best British Female Artist, KT Trunstall is on Eurochannel to prove her worth in a revealing special.

Biography:

Kate Victoria "KT" Tunstall (born 23 June 1975, Edinburgh) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and guitarist from St Andrews, Scotland. She broke into the public eye with a 2004 live solo performance of her song "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" on Later... with Jools Holland. She has enjoyed commercial and critical success since, picking up three nominations before winning a BRIT Award, and a Grammy Award nomination. She is also the recipient of an Ivor Novello Award. She has released three studio albums internationally: Eye to the Telescope (2004), Drastic Fantastic (2007) and Tiger Suit (2010).

Trivia:

• In an interview, when KT Tunstall was asked what song she wished she had written, she said she wished she had written Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who.
• KT Tunstall once won a "battle of the bands" competition in the Royal Holloway, University of London, where she attended school.
• KT has co-written and co-sang a song for Travis' new album, The Boy With No Name, which will be released in May 2007.
