Presentation:

As the frontman of The Rasmus, Lauri Ylönen has seen his share of fame around the world. His ventures in the music world led him to pursue a solo act and his first solo album was released in March 2011. Fans of The Rasmus have nothing to worry about as Lauri promises the band will be back in the studio soon producing their either album.

Biography:

Ylönen was born on April 23, 1979 and grew up in Helsinki. He first learned to play the piano when he was five, and later learned to play guitar and drums.

When he was eight years old, he met Eero Heinonen (the future bassist of The Rasmus) at school. Following the advice of his sister Hanna, he learned to sing and decided to continue with that before becoming the singer of The Rasmus.

In the early 1990s, at Suutarila high school, Ylönen and Eero met Pauli Rantasalmi and Janne Heiskanen, the future guitarist and drummer of the Rasmus. Ylönen formed the band in 1994 but were named Trashmosh, then Antilla, and finally the Rasmus. Ylönen quit school to become the lead singer, composer and songwriter of the band. A few years later they reached international stardom with their famous hit “In The Shadows” and its album Dead Letters.

Ylönen recorded 7 albums with The Rasmus but has also worked on various collaborations with his friends Finns Apocalyptica and Ville Valo from the band HIM. In 2007, Lauri and other friends created their own recording label, Dynasty Recordings. In November 2010 he announced the release of his first solo album with his single ‘’Heavy’’.
