Presentation:

Discover the UK's next great musical export before the rest of the world, exclusively on Eurochannel.

The UK is the best place to look for the next big music star. Marina & The Diamonds is already a phenomenon in the UK and is finally making her name known over the world. Named as the Best Irish/UK act at the MTV Europe awards, it will not be long before Marina takes over the rest of the music world. She has been compared to other British acts like Little Boots, Kate Nash, and Florence and the Machine. Despite her name, Marina & The Diamonds is actually just one person and not a band as the name would suggest.

Her debut album, The Family Jewels, was released in February 2010 with great success. Her follow-up album is expected to be released in October 2011. In her Eurochannel special, you will see and hear for yourself why this British beauty is shaping the future of music in a unique way that combines retro and modern styles. It presents the best hits of the album, including the making of the music videos for "Hollywood" and "Oh No!" and an interview with the singer. This is only the beginning for Marina, who you can expect to hear everywhere pretty soon as her popularity continues to grow.

Biography:

Marina Diamandis was born in Abergavenny, Wales to a Greek father and Welsh mother. When her parents separated, Diamandis moved to Greece when she was sixteen years old to live with her father but returned to Wales two years later. Diamandis moved to London at the age of eighteen to study and eventually began to pursue music. After a long struggle, she finally signed with a record label.

Her struggle paid off seeing as she has gone on to become one of the UK's hottest new acts. She has been nominated at the 2010 Brit Awards, NME Awards, BBC Sound of 2010, and the MTV Europe Awards where she took home the trophy for Best UK & Irish Act. She performed to mass audiences at two of the world's most famous music festivals, Glastonbury and Isle of Wight.
