Moon on the Snow (La mémoire des autres, 2006) Director: Pilar Anguita-Mackay Tells the story of three estranged siblings - Constance (Marie-Josée Croze) , Elise ( Julie Depardieu) and Xavier (Nicolas Rossier)- gathered by their mother's deathbed after years of separation.
Divided by the traumatic childhood memory of their father's untimely death, each has carried with them a different personal view of what really happened - who was or wasn't to blame. Since that fateful day, the life of each sibling has been shaped by the shadow of that personal memory and made them into the characters they are today. While Constance remains loyal and loving to her dying mother, Elise instead boils over with bitterness at the woman she believed in her cruelty was responsible for the accident that would claim her father's life. Xavier, in the meantime, has spent his life in quiet, private turmoil, blaming himself. Now reunited at the family home that has held so many mixed memories, the three siblings must finally confront the crippling demons that have haunted them since childhood, and at last lay the ghosts of the past to rest. |
