The Curse of the Dark Angel (Ange de feu, 2006) Director: Philippe Setbon Just minutes after reading a mysterious death notice, Francoise Sorel (Anne Canovas) jumps out the window. Her husband (Jean-Michel Dupuis) and her daughter, Lola (Louise Monot), are utterly dismayed by the inexplicable suicide. In her will, Francoise requests to be buried in Castelnac, her hometown in the Perigord region of France. When Lola, along with her father, arrives at the village for the funeral, she is confronted with unknown family members overtly hostile to her presence. Determined to discover the truth about her parent's past, Lola carries on her investigation. Courtal follows her closely as another murder is committed nearby the family estate. Thanks to Alex (Marc Ruchmann), a young man she has become close with, Lola discovers the dreadful secret that weights upon Castelnac's leading citizens. The events took place twenty years ago and Lola's father appears to have been deeply implicated, although she initially refuses to believe so. A cloud of gunpowder rapidly grows over Castelnac. Some secrets are seemingly better left unsaid. |
