The Smugglers (Les passeurs, 2004) Director: Didier Grousset Is 1943 in the slopes of the Jura Mountains. Anthonioz (Guy Marchand) is a "passer", a smuggler who helps Jews and resistance fighters to get across the border. In the same town, Nicod (Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu) doesn't help anyone, he only smuggles things: gold, painted masterpieces, cash and bank bonds. The former is an idealist, the latter a trafficker. They hate each other. Severine (Toinette Laquière) is 18, Anthonioz's daughter. She is lovely and delivers the mail. Francois (Cédric Chevalme) is a 19-years-old champion athlete. Despite the hatred between their two families, they fall in love and run up against the will of their parents. |
