Presentation:

What makes a city? The buildings, the culture and the people are all essential, but the most important part is the indescribable feeling of the place. Eurochannel invites you to discover that feeling for yourself by travelling through the beautiful and complex city of Venice and the iconic lagoon upon which it rests.

Carlo Mazzacurati's Six Venice premiered to critical acclaim at the 2010 Venice Film Festival. This documentary looks into the city’s heart through the stories of six Venetian locals: a hotel cleaner, an archaeologist, a pensioner from Mestre, a painter/fisherman, a burglar, and a young boy.

This wonderful collection of six lives portrays life in Venice in all of its beauty, humor, and sorrow. Audiences will witness every facet of these six lives: the daily rituals, the hopes, and the disappointments, all of which paints a picture of Venice like nobody has ever seen before.

Through these disparate tales, audiences will see a pattern emerge, and in that pattern is the true face of Venice.

Synopsis:

This documentary reveals the true face of Venice through the stories of six locals: a hotel waiter, an archaeologist, a pensioner from Mestre, a painter/fisherman, a burglar and a young boy.

The retiree Giovanni, who is now volunteering as a city archivist, tells both the history of Venice and the story of how it ruined his life; Carlo is a misunderstood artist; Ramiro, reminiscent of Gerard Depardieu, speaks candidly about his criminal past.

Massimo describes what drives him, and the student reveals his boyhood secrets: a crush on a classmate and a fascination with the love shared by his parents.
