About Us
The Eurochannel Group
Built around Eurochannel, a channel created in 1994 and led since 2004 by Gustavo Vainstein, the Eurochannel Group is dedicated to bringing European creation to the world: cinema and music.
The group operates two channels: Eurochannel, 100% European cinema, and Allegro Spatial, launched in June 2015, devoted to classical music in 4K — from the greatest concert halls to the most prestigious theatres.
Eurochannel is the award-winning worldwide leading European cinema TV channel. Eurochannel is a one-of-a-kind network, offering a vast selection of modern entertainment from every corner of Europe.
The channel takes viewers on a whirlwind journey of European culture with top of the line European programming, ranging from traditional films to the hottest new cinema; from sweeping, epic serials to heart-pounding mini-series.
Eurochannel was founded in 1994, originally created by the Abril Group (TV Abril) in Brazil. The channel was acquired by Multithematiques/Canal+ in 2000, then in 2004 by Gustavo Vainstein, who remains its Chairman & CEO.
Eurochannel has continued to expand ever since: to Portugal in 2007, to the United States in an English version via DISH Network since April 30th 2008, to Korea in 2011, and to France through cable providers in 2011. Eurochannel broadcasts 100% European programs and is available worldwide.
